Privacy Policy
Last updated 16 July 2026
date ("date", "we", "us") is operated by Xnet. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. If anything is unclear, email admin@zone.au.
date is a live-voice dating service for adults aged 18 and over. By using it you agree to this policy and to our Terms of Service.
1. Information we collect
We collect several types of information:
Account information
- When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from that provider.
- Date of birth — collected once to confirm you are 18+. Your birthdate is stored privately and is never shown to other users; only your derived age is displayed.
- Profile content — display name, gender, short bio, preferences, and any photos you upload.
- Reports — if you report someone, we keep what you submit for safety review.
Usage and presence
- Interactions with other users (call invites you send or receive, connections, blocks).
- Your availability status and when you were last online in the lounge.
Location data
- With your permission we use your device location, or a city you pick manually, to show people nearby and a rough distance. We coarsen this to an approximate area (about a 1 km grid) before it is stored or shared. Your precise GPS coordinates never leave your device and are never shown to anyone.
Device and technical data
- If you enable notifications, a messaging token so we can alert you to incoming calls.
- Standard log and device information needed to run the service securely.
2. Voice calls are not recorded
Voice conversations on date are streamed live through our real-time voice provider. We do not record, store, transcribe, or listen to your calls. Audio is not retained after a call ends. We do not use voice data for biometric identification.
3. How we use your information
- Provide and maintain the service — your profile, the live lounge, and voice calls.
- Match you with nearby people based on your and their preferences.
- Enable communication between users who choose to talk.
- Send notifications about invites and activity you've opted into.
- Ensure safety and prevent fraud or abuse — verifying age, enforcing our Community Guidelines, and acting on reports and blocks.
- Improve and secure the service, and meet legal obligations.
4. Lawful basis for processing
Where GDPR / UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on these bases:
- Contract — necessary to provide the service you signed up for.
- Consent — where you have explicitly agreed (for example location access and push notifications, which you can withdraw at any time).
- Legitimate interests — safety, fraud prevention, and service improvement.
- Legal obligation — where required by law.
5. Information sharing
We never sell your personal information to third parties. We share it only:
- With other users— your public profile (name, age, gender, bio, photo) and approximate distance are visible to people you're matched with in the lounge.
- Service providers — Google Firebase (authentication, database, photo storage, push messaging), our real-time voice provider (Cloudflare) for live call routing, and our hosting provider (Vercel). They process data on our instructions only.
- Legal requirements — when required by law, or to protect the safety of users or the public.
6. International transfers
date is available globally and our providers operate worldwide. Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.
7. Data retention
- We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile and associated data within 30 days.
- Presence and call invites are transient and routinely cleared within minutes.
- Some data — including reports and safety records — may be retained longer for legal or security purposes, even after an account is deleted.
8. Cookies
We use only essential cookies and local storage needed for the service to function (for example to keep you signed in). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser; disabling them may prevent you from signing in.
9. Your rights
