Safety & trust
Last updated 16 July 2026
Meeting new people should feel good and stay safe. date is voice-first and your calls are never recorded — but trust is still something you build at your own pace. Use the tools below whenever something feels uncomfortable. You do not need a specific reason to block or report someone.
Your safety tools
Mute and hang up
Mute any time during a call. Hang up whenever you want — no explanation needed.
Block
Block stops someone from seeing or contacting you. The person is removed from your roster and cannot reach you again from that account.
Report
Report tells our safety team. Choose a reason and add details if you can. All reports are confidential and reviewed by us. We may warn, suspend, or permanently ban accounts depending on severity. For serious violations we will cooperate with law enforcement. You will not usually be told the outcome, to protect all parties.
Hidden status
Set your status to Hiddenwhen you'd rather not appear in the lounge.
Your privacy on date
- Calls are live only — we do not record, store, or listen to them.
- Your precise location is never shared. Others only ever see a rough distance (we coarsen location to about a 1 km grid). Never share your address, workplace, or daily routine early on.
- You can delete your account and associated data at any time from Your profile → Delete account.
Safety tips
- Take your time before sharing personal information like your last name, workplace, home address, or financial details.
- Trust your instincts. If a conversation makes you uncomfortable, end the call and block the user — you owe no one an explanation.
- Never send money, gifts, or financial details to someone you have not met in person, regardless of their story. Asking for money is a common scam pattern — report it.
- Be wary of anyone who pushes you to move to another app quickly, or who refuses to talk live on voice — that can be a sign of a fake profile.
- You never owe anyone your time, your number, or a second call.
Meeting in person
- Take your time. There's no rush to move off the app.
- Meet first in a busy public place, and make your own way there and back.
- Tell a friend where you'll be and when you expect to be home.
- Keep the first meetup short — you can always plan something longer next time.
